Cool Going to be Bananaless.....................

............................till next week. Mike phoned Tuesday evening to tell me the steering rack had failed. Now this rack was fitted 6/03/2015 after Banana failed her MOT on a couple of issues including the steering rack. So Mike, bless him has been chasing up the supplier to see if they have had any other failures, and what can they do regarding the failure. They have agreed to supply the new unit at a very reduced price.

They want the old rack back to find out why it has failed. The new rack was not till delivered this morning. Because of MG Live this weekend they have suspended the work on Banana. Something that I have agreed to. It's not as if I'm desperate for a car. Got 2 cars still. The Bear and it's Cub. The only thing is that I'll now have to take the Loud One to Yorkshire.

So I'll need to warn all the petrol stations about a possible upcoming fuel drought. Still it will be a treat for the boys up North.

Cool And we are back.

Collected Banana today from MJS. New Steering rack now fitted, steering pump checked and flushed through. Pipes replaced where needed. Steering re-aligned and wheels re-balanced. Steering wheel removed and re-aligned on the splines so it's nice and straight.

Gearbox oil drained and re-filled with Slick 50. And rear indicator bulb changed as it had blown.

All oil and water levels checked. And she got a wash as well.

Well happy with the price charged.

Returned the little Rover 25.

Cool Banana back at MJS.............

...................................this morning, strange knocking/clonking from the steering. Started last Thursday also another noise which sounds like rear wheel bearing.
Left home at 6am and finally got to the garage at 9am, had to stop at Clacklets Lane services to make a temporary repair to the cover under the dashboard on driver's side. It fell off. Now held on with cable ties.

Banana currently up in the air. They have found that the rear wheel bearings need replacing. Martin is currently investigating the steering.

Fingers crossed the steering is just something needing tightening.

A couple of wheel bearings is another expense - it's a good thing she's worth it
