Default 5 messages stuck in outbox - Outlook 97

Everytime I click send/receive, Outlook 97 tries to send 5 messages via Talktalk, which it cannot do, because I am no longer on TT. I can log in to receive, but not send. My outbox though, is completely empty, so no possibility to delete the 5.

My guess is that they must be received acknowledgements, so how do I cancel them?

Send and Receive via Plusnet still works fine.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I am pretty sure you can configure Send and Receive options for each account on 97

Press CTRL ALT & S, from here you can add a new rule for this account that will only receive and not send.

Tutorial found here (Not sure if it is outlook 97 friendly) https://www.slipstick.com/outlook/co...eive-settings/ go to the video

You really need to move off of Outlook 97, it's not longer suitable and will not provide you with any protection from the security threats that are out there now. If you are using Windows 10 then I would recommend using the built in Mail which does the job otherwise consider moving over to a gmail address as this will provide you with far superior protection.

Unfortunately, no it didn't sort it - the problem came back...

I have finally resolved it. It was 4x Read Receipts (originally 5x) it was trying to send out on an email account I no longer had access to..

It was rather complex to follow, but this explains how to do it...

https://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/...pt.htm#mfcmapi

Read receipts are invisible to the user, once they click agreeing for them to be sent. So no obvious way to delete them in Outlook, except using the above process.
