No help unfortunately, but would be interested to learn also. My four wheelsstill have all the plastic inserts, but a fifth wheel as a proper spare would be useful.
I presume yours weren't broken during the tyre fitting? - certainly this was done on on mine with no problem. |

Hi,
I've never has any problems with Costco tyre fitters however my wheels were fine before they started and now some of these 'Y' spokes are snapped off, one missing and some more damaged. Should I put in a claim as I'm a little miffed. I think someone wrongly assumed these fragile trim parts were structural and manhandled the wheels using them. I also spoke to my dad earlier and he went to the same branch a while ago. The centre caps of his Ford alloys were fine before a tyre change however when he got his car back they had been laid face down on concrete and scratched and ruined. I rate Costco highly but I think this is their fault. What should I do? Jim |

Go and see their manager and tell them what has happened. Then take it from there making sure that you intend making a claim for negligence in changing you tyres over. Look through their waste bins before seeing the manager. Don’t remove them if you find them.Take him/her to see where they are if you find them in the rubbish.

A friend took the plastic Y shaped inserts and drilled them out. He then drilled in to the wheel where the plastic lugs had snapped off. With a 4mm hole he tapped in a thread. Finally using some hex bolts he screwed the Y spokes back. looks as good as new BUT I'M MISSING ONE SINGLE Y SPOKE. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ONE PLEASE PM ME IF YOU CAN HELP.
Basically if this happens to you don't despair, in a few minutes, some stainless bolts and a drill and tap they can be repaired and look as good as new. |
