I had bursitis in the elbow and it's easy to treat without surgery. A big needle was inserted into the joint and 2 pints of fluid was sucked out using a big syringe. It came back a second time. Went through the procedure, drainage, blah blah. After that, I was good Clearly your wife is in the know, given what you said Richard. It sounds very unpleasant, having it in the knee, something which I hope you get sorted out real soon. Take care my friend.

I have had it twice in the elbow Phil, the first time was after a fall, and it went away of its own accord, the second time was just a few moths ago,it came up for no reason, the size of a golf ball. I went to the doc and asked to get it lanced, he refused and said it would go the way it came, it didn't,and grew again,so I went back a second time, asked for it to be lanced, got it done, pint and a half of fluid came out. the doc who did it,told me there was a risk of it coming back again,or infection getting in,having had it drained.
\Guess what? it swelled up again in two days,I didn't bother going back again, and it gradually disappeared after about 2/3 weeks.
Difference this time is, the knees doesn't look swollen, whereas the elbow looked like there was a balloon of water stuck to it.
