Default Bonnet cable junction box

Had to access the cable junction (or divider) block by one of the club approved methods (as it happened there was no problem there).
However, it occurs to me that if the divider block cover is secured to the inner wing as several people recommend, it is then impossible get to the inner cables to release the bonnet should the main cable break. Think about it - you have to get the divider cover off the inner wing to get to the secondary cable inners, any additional mechanical fixing will make this more difficult or impossible. Thoughts?

When I bought my 75 (from this forum) I was lucky enough to find this, amongst other sensible mods, had already been done. The junction box had then been cable tied to the wing which I thought was very sensible.

It wasn't until I was at the recent Royal Tay Yacht Club meet in Dundee that one of the attendees bonnet releases didn't.......

I saw how Marinabrian managed to release the bonnet and on getting home I cut off the cable tie.

It would be extremely difficult to sort out otherwise.

Thankfully I found out before the inevitable!

Yes it's crazy to tie wrap it, you should never have a problem with it separating if the cables and catches are lubricated.

It's something I've never recommended because of the above.

Default Bonnet release cable divider block sought

Hi Group,
I've just gone through the process of having to open the bonnet after the cable release lever failed to function due to that divider block.
I'm not out of the wood yet though, because the divider block appears to have disappeared entirely -- perhaps falling somewhere behind the black plastic wheel arch protection.
I simply have the rather flexible black plastic junction box, but not the divider block that goes inside.
What suggestions for sourcing a divider block in good condition? I am in the South of France, so not many breaker's yards with Rover 75s to cannibalise.
Or can I reasonably try to make one or have one made?
TIA
Leachim.

I have found that my, new to me, ZT has at one time had the R/H bonnet catch cut off with a Sawzall (Jab-saw to you Brits I believe) with the resultant remaining damage from the cutting. The cable join has been taped up with duct tape which makes me worry after reading this thread.
Does anyone have a picture of this divider block? If I don't have one I assume I should install one before I have problems.
