Default Weird lighting problem!

Hi All,

Just changed the bulbs on the tourer rear light clusters.

All working fine apart from the tail light on the nearside.

Changed the bulb a number of times with known good bulbs, the same problem occurs.

When I switch the lights on, the bulb glows faintly for a second or two, then cuts out, this happens with each new bulb.

If I remove the bulb and apply a tester, there is a current there, but I get the strange behaviour when I add a bulb.

I also gave a problem with the front nearside halos flickering (Rick's upgrade), but I'm guessing that's a separate issue.

Can anyone shed any light?

Phil

Have a look for any signs of corrosion in the plug.

Hi All,

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I was installing a set if leds I bought a year or so go from Rick.

So, with little thought (which is my usual default), I just jumped in and changed them all.

All work fine, but the car doesnt like the caplesd side light leds and started doing mad stuff, with each side seeming to react differently?

So I just stuck the old sidelights in and it's fine now!!

I say fine, but I'm now on a mission to find led side light which will work.

Does anyone have any ideas on which I could try?

These work well. Had mine for a few years now, and they are bright.

Lee.

I discovered that the LED front sidelights don’t trigger the bulb failure warning if they fail. Presume there’s still enough of a load to convince the system the bulb is working. I only noticed when the car was sat while I opened the garage.

Thanks Steve, perhaps Rick's leds will work there.

I'll try it.
