Weird Hard Drive Thing
Hitachi Deskstar - 123.5GB, IDE hard drive, model IC35L120AVV207-1
It worked fine last week, then I dismantled the PC it was in - now two different computers won't recognise it at all (one XP Pro SP2, one Vista Ultimate SP1). Nothing shows in Computer or Windows Explorer on either machine. Any ideas guys & gals? NB. I've got six of these drives (all identical models) and the others are all recognised by both machines. |

Unusual for complete failure recognition,
unless Drive has failed completely. |

Simon,
These are the things I would try, (just incase you haven't.) Do you have an external usb Caddy or a USB to IDE lead you could try ? if the led's are red it has failed. Can you hear it spinning ? Have you tried Jumper on cable Select ? Have you tried switching it on in BIOS ? Have you tried re-installing/ repairing operating system ? James |

If you go into Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management - Do you see the HDD in there?
