Club announcement on S525 OVP
Hello all,
You may have read in the club forums of the efforts by a group of members who have been busy finding out what happened to all the pre-production Rover 75 models. Well, not only have they managed to collect a huge amount of information on them, they have also discovered the oldest known surviving example - and thanks to them the club has bought it! S525OVP has spent its entire life within the factory gates, living first at Cowley before moving to Longbridge. Up until now it was owned by MG Motors UK Limited, part of SAIC, and this morning we travelled to Longbridge to meet the staff at MG with Andy, Martin and Lewis where we agreed a sale. We're hugely grateful to the Directors of the company in allowing us to purchase the car from them. We're currently arranging the logistics of collecting the vehicle and over the next few weeks will be undertaking a thorough evaluation of the condition of the car. You'll also find a new section in the forums which will be dedicated to the transformation of this car from a very sorry state back to its original spec - we think you'll find it a fascinating and hugely informative read over the coming months. The section should be live later this evening. So, please raise a glass to the S-Reg Hunters; it's very much down to their efforts that we have such a great project on what will be a treasured part of the club. |

This club goes from strength to strength. What could be a better demonstration of how serious we all are about the Rover 75 and MG ZT/T. Tonight I feel extremely proud to be a member.
Simon.

This really is terrific - well done to all concerned and especially Martin. Do we know the mileage? Whilst cars have to be run regularly, it would be great if the club can get and keep this in pristine condition as possible, not just for posterity but as an example for all. Presumably there will need to be a fund raising programme to finance this? (Just a thought - where's Richard Woolley these days?).
