Thank you very much Jeff. The internet says pain killers, osteopath/chiropractor and last option - surgery. If it’s the latter, we will go to the UK or South Africa.

The snow in Ian’s photo looks pretty and awesome. Be safe when your out driving.

A sprinkle of snow here as well - main issue is that underneath it the roads and pavements are really icy as the rain we had last evening is frozen solid.

Sky is heavy with it but does appear to be moving off to the East.

No snow here but bleedin' cold! Was instructed to clear the leaves the recent wind had deposited in the garden, even with gloves on my fingers were aching with the cold.

Sorry to hear about Jessica Phil. Did a disc in my back a while ago, trapped the nerve that runs down the right leg. Ended up with sciatica with knobs on, can only describe it as think of the worst toothache you've ever had and transplant that pain to your hip.

I've been back in bed and just got up again the white stuff is still there and just reading the Bolton evening news I saw this picture. I'm wondering if 'Network rail' know something we don't!

"Network Rail has six snow ploughs and eight de-icing trains on standby, with a focus on areas with particularly poor conditions, like the North West."

Worked them, you can see bugr all, only a tiny strip down the edge of the windscreen! As for the idiot in the photo hanging out of the window, to hell with that, cold enough in a 37 in winter as it is. He'll get his head in quick enough if they hit a drift, either that or he'll get pebble dashed!

Yeah, I was watching an old BR transport film video t'other day called "Snow Drift at Bleath Gill" from the Winter of1955.

It was astonishing to see the railwaymen's accommodation was inside the plough

I remember when I was on the East Anglian TPO,we were the only train out of Norwich and into Liverpool St,everything else was cancelled, mind you we did have a 7 hour delay in getting back, all overtime of course.

Its a very bumpy ride when there is fresh snow on the tracks, snow drifts inside the Mail brakes ,but its all part of the adventure of being on a TPO (Travelling Post Office).

Soon I'll find repose

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

Frost eventually lifted by lunchtime, and we had bright sunshine all afternoon, but it’s starting to freeze again now, forecast says down to -7/8 tonight.

Watched that. Remember my first experience where fresh snow was above the level of the rails so that you couldn't see the rails, that was just plain weird.

I opened a box of food for the girls earlier, put it in the container then tried to put the box in the bin but the bin is frozen shut, solid shut.
