The Fighting Scots
'Rory Bremner and the Fighting Scots'
02.00 Thursday, BBC4. This is a cracking good programme, powerful stuff and some lovely photography. A must see. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00ml4yx |

A very well made program. Proud to be British, proud to be Scottish.
Reminds one of the debt we owe all of our armed forces. Thanks |

Simon - I went to Culloden once. What a sad place.
Nice to see the programme included Elizabeth Butler's charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo (entitled Scotland Forever) - IMO one of the greatest paintings ever (by anyone) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...d_for_Ever.jpg Napoleon called them: "Those terrible grey horses". This page from the army website has a bit of history on the Scots Greys, including details of Sgt Ewart (as mentioned by Rory B in the programme) http://www.army.mod.uk/armoured/regiments/7580.aspx |
