So funny. Especially with today's government announcement.

There are similarities, 'The Man With A Bucket And Sponge' party who like to see their car as it was even if it doesn't work properly - and 'The Marina' party who want to keep their car actually on the road

There is room for both parties on this forum I would say....seems to be a lot of silly comments thrown at members who keep their cars clean and in show room condition.
Passing judgement on what individual members do with their own property is in no way helping the forum.
And the shiny ones may even be looked after mechanically too.....take a look at Les V8 Supercharged ZTT for one example.

Where is this coming from? A genuine question - have I missed something?

I know Nev and Brian had a bit of a spat over the value of Wurzel, but I wasn't aware it involved anyone else .

I do like that 😃 - what I find sad is that whilst both “party’s” are “enthusiasts” - both insist on widdling in the cornflakes of the other.

If there had been a bit more respect and less sensitivity demonstrated by both sides the outcome would have been a tad more mature.

Yes!! Asking for feedback on an admittedly superb car with a very high sale price was perhaps asking for “it”.

But references to “look after your teddy” or whatever - and references to “bucket and sponge” enthusiasts hardly show the membership in a positive light.

No doubt some will find what I say offensive - but please don’t think that is a concern.

It looks like we have two, possibly three, oversensitive poor souls who, unable to cope with the situation, now feel the need to flounce off.

All a bit school playground for me.

Oh God, it's like talking to someone about EastEnders and having them say 'haven't watched that in years. What's been happening?'.

Default Conflict

In an adult world (if that’s what it is!) we are all entitled to agree or not, and some more than others, if the question is posed in open forum.

Then it becomes an inglorius race to the bottom to get a word in before rightful closure. It’s the taking of sides that gets out of control, so just maybe, when sarky triumphs over wit, a private pre-emptive whisper from a mod requesting a degree of caution might bring about second thoughts from the regular and habitual coquoloful*.

That in turn might discourage a distasteful barrage of invective that could put off prospective and new members. It would also be to the benefit of interesting discussion. An onerous duty for a mod, true, but isn’t that part of the job?

*Forgive my spelling of this – the word was a gift from a beloved Yiddish friend who passed on without telling the spelling. Typical, he never gave much away, but he did teach me the art of humour with a determinedly straight face that made a joke all the funnier when, two days later, you reflected and made those around you think you had gone mad by laughing aloud at nothing.

The word means a manure stirrer or, in the modern idiom, troll. It is pronounced in two syllables: cockle and offal. Bless you Syd.

That's it for me, no, not leaving, off to Italy for a month while we still can.
