Default Spark plug questions!

I'm thinking of changing the spark plugs on my 1.8. Service history tells me they were last changed back in June 2007 at 49,200 miles. The car has now done 64,200 miles. Do you think a change would be beneficial at this stage? If so, I'm thinking of fitting these:

Could someone please recommend the correct type of spark plug spanner to use for the job, as I dont have a spanner at present?

I understand there are just 3 bolts/screws to remove on the cover to get to the plugs - is this correct?

Many thanks,

David.

Can't do any harm to change them even if they've only done 15,000.

I changed mine last year (NGK on KV6) and the electrodes were down to half the diameter of the new ones. I don't know if they'd ever been changed before but the car's total mileage was only 31,000.

I'm not sure whether I fitted NGK Iridiums or Platinums? Usually they're good for 60K miles according to the book so after 15K miles it could be a bit soon but for £26 per set - why not? My plug spanner has 10mm stamped but not sure what's that in old money? If the old plugs are a tan colour then that's a sign that things are ok. Take care putting the plugs back in place as you want to avoid cross threads - put a smear of copper grease on the thread which'll help.
