The Vis motor that has died is the one at the back connected directly to the butterfly valve, the circuit lines on the pcb had disintegrated so i made a repair using that conductive glue you get off flebay, when i connected it to the car it burst in to flames (not good). one good thing is my lad has agreed to help on the gearbox swap if i buy him a rear spoiler for his astra.

Hmmm, VIS is pretty much unrepairable then Thought i may be able to help a little in that dept.
Rimmers will have them on 2-3 days delivery Part no is MKE100110 for the 75/ZT. if you use MKE100110L you will save a couple of quid or so. ( same part but landrover) Make sure the flap it connects to is free to move through 90deg, if not then remove it and ease it by shaving the flap with a stanley knife or similar.

Check Rimmers for part numbers for gearboxes. I would have though the box will be the same. Whether the final drive ratio in the diff. is the same needs to be determined.

I think the gearbox box for the ZT 2.5 160 has the same ratio's as the 75 but the 190 is different.

Yes you are correct, i have had a look at rimmer bros site and it is the box from a 190 i need, Vis motor looks good value at about £90 so i think i will buy one.
Any idea how long the gearbox swap should take, i replaced an auto transaxle gearbox on my Porsche 928 last year, i dont think any gearbox swap will come anywhere near to being as ****** awkward as that. Thanks all for your help Adam |
