Default My first ever car and need silly help!

Hi everyone,

Sorry but I will sound absolutely moronic but that's because this is my first car and I don't know anyone else who drives a rover 75 (Know people who drive cars but I would rather ask people who know all the facts)

Firstly, whenever I turn my engine on (I have the 2l bmw diesel in a 1999 rover 75) it says "Oil change (Or service, can't remember) 8400 miles" Does that mean I need to change it in 8400 miles? (I imagine it does but I really don't want anything going wrong)

Secondly, there is a warning light on the dashboard which has a lightbulb. Read somewhere about it meaning front fog light is out. Just wondering if that was right before I go outside in the cold and check all my lights!

I would imagine I have more questions but none come to mind at the moment!

Thank you for your help,

Joseph.

(P.s. I will put my engine etc on the left in a minute)

Hello and welcome to the club.
The first display you mention sounds like the service interval indicator. The other one sunds like the bulb faliure warning. This could be any of the bulbs not just fogs!

Hope this helps

Regards

/phew!

Just got this car and I dont want to have to rake out an extra however much it would cost for an oil change just yet. Insurance was enough as it is.

oh another quick question, my remote central locking isn't working, I can get to a rover dealership on Saturday but I was wondering how much it would cost? Worst case scenario/best case scenario.

Thank you!

I really don't trust myself doing something like that (Bad I know but I really don't want anything to go wrong)

What's the right battery to get? I was looking in halfords earlier and that was no help.

Welcome to the club Joseph. Put your locaation up in your profile too so members can see where you are, there maybe another member nearby who is willing to help you.
