There are two idler wheels on the cambelt circuit. Both can clearly fail, but I believe only the spring-loaded tensioner wheel is replaced at cambelt replacement - perhaps this needs investigation as both wheels have roller bearings.

i replaced all the rollers and tensioners. the only thing i can think is that the drive belt tensioner was quite tight to get off. maybe its that

Remove the belt that drives the power steering / alt etc and see if the noise goes away
