More than likely will be your clutch slave cylinder, try topping up the master cylinder and bleeding it through and check for leaks around the bottom off the gearbox bell housing, if it's leaking it will be time for a new slave cylinder and a new clutch while it's all out, good luck!

Unfortunately this is now an all to common problem with the clutches. The Hydraulic components supplied now seem to have a very poor life expectancy and many posts can be found regarding this.

My MG had a new clutch and DMF fitted on purchase from a respected trader and 13 months later after 3000 miles the master failed and had to be replaced. Of course it was out of warrantee. 10 months later and another 3000 miles the slave failed. Advice given was it could need a new clutch now as plates could be contaminate and to get rid of it. If you fix it you will be throwing money down the drain it will only fail again given by a well respected trader member who is also a good friend. I took his advice and I'm still looking for the right auto.

Before doing anything further, remove the two screws securing the lower dash trim, pull the kick panel down, and shine a torch up and see if the lug on the end of the master cylinder pushrod has broken

Have to agree with robsun i had new clutch, slave and master cylinder and just three years later slave and master cylinder went again. On an old car you have to decide whether you want to throw anymore money at it, if its not going to last and will need doing again very soon. I binned mine and spent money else where and havent looked back , unfortunately the crappy clutch system is going to be the end of a number of owners who wont just keep shelling out, sad but true!. So think hard before making a decision.

When this happened to one of my cars a few months ago, we replaced the master cylinder and that cured it.

Now on 92K miles, original clutch plate worn out at 65K+ miles, replaced Slave with LuK and new LuK clutch assembly. Original slave still usable but binned it just in case, original Master Cylinder cleaned and flush through (off car), then refitted. Rejected use of TAZU master as a PITA. So far so good.
