Hi Phil,

My phone will connect to the head unit but not the reader. I am at a loss as to what else to try. Its not important as such, I currently have no issues - as far as I know! - but I have it & I want it to work.

thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob the only thing i can think of is it's possibly a faulty reader if it won't connect to the phone.
Is there anybody close to you that could try the reader for you.

Default OBD Compliant

First thing to look at is if your car is in fact OBD compliant. Not all of our cars connect up to OBD. For instance my V6 doesn't speak to OBD scanners so torque app will not work. The diesels did not have to be OBD compliant until later. Not sure of date. Have you used an OBD scanner with the car before?

Thanks Astraeus,

I hasn't thought about to that. My car is a 2002 diesel, so maybe it isn't compliant. Sadly I know of no other 75 owners near me to try it.

Thanks,

Rob

even if it's not obd compliant the head unit should still see the bluetooth connection,
as Rob said his phone won't connect to the reader but will connect to the head unit so the problem puts toward the reader rather than anything else.
in my opinion.

Talking

I have been reading the OBD posts as I have some sort of a problem. My car is a 2001/2 cdt. and I recently bought a Star head unit from Sean, it came with a 'mini OBD11 and a 3" disc with elm327. This I downloaded onto my laptop ( did not want to stick a small cd into the head unit) The disc did not identify any Rovers so I identified it with a BMW3 series. Downloaded to laptop and bluetoothed it to my android phone ,everything works lovely in car with engine running and pairs with head unit but WILL NOT load onto head unit. Suppose it doesn't matter but would be nice if it did.
Note: I thought I had a Rover75 not a BMW3:
The 'mini OBD11 and disc is available from ebay.

Diesels weren't obd11 compliant until after 2004

Cool

Whoops, have I done something wrong. As I said in earlier thread I couldn't find the Rover75 link for my obd so I used the BMW3series which has the same engine and it seems to work ok - or am I getting false readings.

They may not be truly compliant but you can still read them with T4 & TOAF & other systems.
The problem is not reading the car it's getting the reader to connect to the head unit via bluetooth.
