Try the furniture polish first ; it usually works fine

There is a thread on here (somewhere...) where the cause was that the retraction drum had loosened and was slightly off the perpendicular. You need to get to the drum and make sure that it has not "twisted" off true... The symptoms you state in the OP, are similar to an issue I had with another car, and I corrected the twist and re-tightened the bolts... problem solved
PS: the thread you refer to in the OP is this This is also related......

hello again...
after almost a year now my seatbelt passenger side is not retracting well, the cable under the seat is hooked ok but is not fully extended, it is a bit loose... why is that? it does not retract ok, is this because of the cable,,,? and how do i take the trim that has the airbag clip that covers the seatbelt? i know its probably clips, but do i remove it? thanks. |

So the "Ultimate Professional Remedy Recommendation" Furniture spray polish failed ? In that case you must have read the warnings on the labels regarding cleaning. For me, if there is slack in the under seat height adjusting cable, I would suggest there is likely to be a problem with the slide section in the upper "B" pillar panel. This I have seen on a few occasions, but if your vehicle has full airbag system there may be issues in removing the pillar trim to ascertain the fault. Please accept my apologies for the sarcasm, but really think that the idea of spraying anything onto a safety item which expressly warns against doing so is utterly stupid and may be life endangering ! I do get things wrong sometimes and will be the first to admit when I get it wrong. Good luck with the inspection and fix, I will take a look for some info and return if I find any ! |

thanks for your help...
yes i tried the forniture polish on the belt itself and nothing happens... i believe as you do that the problema lies where you are telling me, but i dont know how to remove the trim so i can acess the belt and the cable... there is a slack under the seat and i am trully sure that is the cable that it is somehow stuck somewhere... do you have any info on how to remove the trim without disturbing the airbag that is probably there...???? thanks. |

If your cable is slack, you will need a replacement, the spring that controls the tension will have broken.

Look on the B post trim near the top and see if it says airbag, also check the A post trim either side of the windscreen to see if that has Airbag on it. If they don't then you have no problem removing the trim, personally I'd replace the seatbelt myself, any safety item isn't worth taking a risk with especially as you might need it one day Mick
