Default Got a massive fright

Yesterday, i was on my way home in my daily 75. I was slowing down as approaching a roundabout. There was a single deck bus in front of me also coming to a stop. All of a sudden, I heard a massive bang. Very loud it made me jump out of my seat and I had my music on loud and still heard it very clearly! It came from the bus in front and then I saw something go up in the air approximately 20-25ft and land in the bit of grass next to the road. It was part of a rear tyre that exploded and came off the bus! Never seen anything like it before but what a fright it gave me. I thought the bus had exploded or something at first! The bus was busy as well so the passengers and the driver must of got a shock. I pulled to the side and got out and the drivers of the bus got out wondering what the hell happened until I pointed out his tyre at the side of the road. Luckily, nobody was hurt and I carried on.

In the late 90s I was passing a lorry on the M1 and one of its rear tyres blew out just as I was passing. Like you it was a shock and took a second to realise what was happening.

My car was damaged by the exploding tyre with what the insurer called rubber burn. The side of the car from front passenger door to rear wing was coated in rubber that had firmly stuck to the panels. No dents but loads of scratches needing the side re-spraying once it was removed.

This just brought back a memory of the tale told to me by a work mate. I will repeat it in his words.

He set off down the M1 from Sheffield on a bus chartered by his fishing club to go to a competition down south. Enjoying the views out of the window he saw a wheel undertaking them bouncing down the hard shoulder. He shouted out "look at that lads some poor guys lost a wheel", and the bus fell over.

You're both nuts.

I'm feeling a bit deflated now.
