Question 75 1.8

hi i am new here and have just bought a 2001 75 1.8 se connisure and am really shocked how sluggish it is, is this normal, just seems you really have to work the engine, thanks from dan

Hi Dan, welcome to the forum. What car are you used to? The 75 is a big old bus and the 1.8 does have to be worked quite hard, it is quite happy cruising at motorway speeds. I have the 1.8turbo and it goes like thunderbird 3.

Sounds about right, mine struggles up hill when I have passengers on board, fine on flat roads and motorways though, you get used to it in the end and it's not a problem

lol at least it ent broke, lovley motor just under powered, my old car was a 2004 2.2 direct petrol vectra so that prob dont help, i hope i get used to it as it really is a great looking car, also is it the norm for the fan to be always on? thanks

Only if the A/C is on, if it is on when the A/C is off there is a problem.

Press ECON, that just switches the A/C compressor off and the fan too, if functioning correctly.

You will probably find the car has more power available with the A/C off. It will use less fuel too.
