Default Oil pressure warning Light

If this light comes on even with the correct amount of oil in the what is the usual problems, could it just be a faulty switch or is it much more serious

If the oil switch istself is faulty then yes in my mind it would cause the oil lamp to come on either by design or by the simple fact that it is malfunctioning. If removing/cleaning/refitting doesn't solve the problem than it's probably time to fit a new one, in my opinion.
