Headlamp Protectors
Has anyone fitted headlamp protectors? Rimmers are selling them for £40-ish and I was thinking of getting some. Are they worth it?

http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=1262 I've used them before and also have similar fitted to my fog lamps. A lot cheaper than replacing a lamp! Mike

What holds them in place Mike?
I didn't know anyone made them for fogs - did you get them from Rimmers? |

Simon, I'll dig out some pics and post them later. MGR made the fog ones as accessories also. I got the foglamp ones fitted when I bought the car- 3 years or more ago. Mike

Simon,
The protectors are easy to fit. At the bottom and top there are lugs that slip inside the headlamp surround. Difficult to photograph but I hope that the attached file is OK. (I've not done this before!) Colin Last edited by CFS75; 3rd December 2006 at 15:50.. |

Protectors
Hi Simon. I fully agree with fitting them to the foglights (very neat) but I don't think they do anything to improve the looks when fitted to headlights. Rover w/shop had to lower bumper on one side to fit mine so not easy to remove for cleaning ! With the hard water here they were permanently marked on the inside with white spots and looked awful. Have now removed them. Headlights are 2 a penny on ebay if one gets broken. If they made them for the facelift they may be in one piece and neater.

Thanks chaps. Now I'm in a quandary. You can't actually see the lugs in Colin's pic so they look ok to me. There again I don't fancy having to take them off every time just to wash the car (although water is pretty soft here).

The lugs fit between the lamp and the bodywork and so are completely concealed. Mike's point about using the protective pads provided for fitting and removing the covers is important.
I have'nt found it necessary to remove the covers too often but if the joints around the lamps are adequate (wide enough) it is a simple job. Colin |

i had them fitted to my headlamps for two years and they looked fine with no staining. Only took them off for a bumper touch up and am yet to put back
