Unfortunately your goodies pack is of no use to me, just out of interest, are you talking about early BR "experimental blue" or the later "age of the train blue"?

The Blue Tones
Gen BR Blue 1971-1987; XB was applied to a tiny handful of Brush Type 2s and XP64 only to D1733. But then you knew that of course

If you decide to sell separately I'm looking for a two hole switch panel in the grey you have.
I have a blank to match if you want to px and you then keep a full set. |

Sorry for delayed response but for some unknown reason this has only just come to my attention. I've got plenty of 00 model steam loco's in the first "nationalisation" Experimental Blue but the one I've always wanted but has eluded me so far is - the Triang/Hornby A1A in the later re-launched Blue. I'm not a fan of diesels but the Blue A1A with White coach line is something special.

Eh mmm
A class 55 Deltic Engine. 37 was an English Electric standard powered diesel.
Well spotted. 22 production machines that replaced a much larger number of A4 etc steam engines. Spent a bit of my youth chasing the 55s around Scotland. I presume you kniw a bit about them but for others... The English Electric Deltic Class 55 diesel was powered by two delta formation two stroke engines. They were in fact marine engines. The six pistons on each delta formation pushed against each other in pairs. These two power plants each powered a generator that drove 6 ( 3 each bogie) traction motors. This produced amazing power and a very unique sound. ( and a lovely smokey diesel plume out of the two exhausts. What machines. In fact the ZT 260 of trains. Most powerful diesel locomotive in the world at time of production! Back in the day when as a country we still built trains!!!!! At Dundee in time leading up to withdrawal I am in that photo somewhere.... With more hair and a much slimmer waistline. Last edited by Astraeus; 26th March 2016 at 19:53.. |
