Alternator not charging
Driving back home down the A36 and the battery light came on. Pulled over checked belt and battery connections- all ok.
Carried on but just miles from home other warning lights came on - presumably as the battery was sapped of power. ABS, seat tensioner, handbrake - all came on then my Navall Star came went off, then on, then off again so I turned that off. We made it to 100yds from home!!! Then it just died. Once again my faithful old ZTT deserves full praise I suspect the Alternator but it could be something as simple as a failed connection somewhere. Anyone know a common issue here to give me some pointers before I start scrabbling about?? |

Battery.----Min 24 hours charge.
Alternator----Most likely the brushes are badly worn. Poor connections ?? Not likely but you could try wriggling them. |

Firstly, Clive, welcome to the car side of the forum.
As a starting point, I would put a fully charged battery on the car and test for alternator voltage with the engine running. If the car has covered reasonable mileage (100k+ miles) it is more likely to be worn alternator components than the wiring purely on the basis of probabilities. |
