Can I leave the under tray off?
Hello all.
Only just bought my first 75 earlier this week and spent most of the weekend servicing it, cleaning it and sorting as many bits out as possible. Still got to sort out the leak in the boot. It is a face lift 04 connie se 2.5 v6 and i am finding it a great car for not a lot of cash but the wife is still to be convinced by the wood though!! This morning on the way to work I heard a loud scratching noise from underneath and when i looked the under tray had dropped down at the back. By the time I got back home the tray was only held on with the front screws. So my question is - I don't have time to refit the tray tonight or this week and make sure it is secure but i have removed it - will it make any difference not having the tray? I hate doing half ***** jobs so I would rather refit it when i have time to make sure it is correct but don't want to cause any other problems. My gut feeling is that it won't make any difference. Thanks Damian |

You may get a bit more noise.
It does protect the underneath from getting covered so much in the road muck but it is safe to drive without it. The only thing to watch out for is the Shannon tube which joins the air filter pipe at the bottom on the passengers side. |

Hi mate
I have never had one on mine and as far as I can tell it has caused no ill effects.

My first V8 from new never had one, I think some cars never had them fitted for some reason...

IIRC. I have just retro-fitted a full undertray on my ZT-T 120 purely to try and keep spray and crud out of the engine bay. Leaving the undertray off won't be a problem other than the dirt and water ingress and the eventual non-starting issue due to corrosion of the starter motor connections - a common issue on K4 and KV6.
