Excellent!
Funnily enough, there was a guy selling the painted sub-frame I previously mentioned from near Nottingham...wasn't you by any chance?

I did. It was this new one. New subframe - rubbish factory paint job! Here it is after blasting (ignore the arrows). Now it has the perfect surface for some real paint. After blasting I cleaned it with Metal Prep, then I painted it inside and out with 2 coats POR15 Rust Preventive Paint. Then multiple coats of Chassis Black (outside only). Then multiple coats of Dynax S50 (inside only). Then multiple coats of Dynax UC (upper surface only). I wouldn't even think about trying to paint a subframe on the car - you'll never be able to do it properly. |

I have just had an advisory for corrosion to the rear subframe and rear arms, so something to look at within the next 12 months.
I also had an advisory for worn rear subframe bushes though... My question is, can the bushes be replaced and if so, where can they be purchased? My thinking is do I want to waste my time dropping the subframe, prepping and painting, refitting and then have it fail next year on knackered bushes? Also, might be worth noting, the mechanic said its definitely worth tidying up and painting the subframe, but that the arms were scabby so better to just replace those. |

Nice to know these sub-frames can be sorted at not too great a cost...I will remember to put that in my selling advert!
Much as I love my Rover, and have lavished loads of dosh on it over my ownership, I think I'll have to let it go for a small petrol car; these days it only gets used for very short journeys to the supermarket, which is not the best use of a diesel engine like this one. Next up...probably a Fiat Panda...100hp of course... If that doesn't work out, I can always return having seen the error of my ways

The two types for the 75 are #2 and #3 on GRID001554. I suspect their part numbers are KHC000181 and KHC000191 (or vice versa) - see here and here. In post 1 of that second link DMGRS asked for the dimensions of the bushes - and in post 3 he said he had a supplier who could make them up. So I'd ask Rimmers (or XPart) to confirm the part numbers for 2 & 3 on GRID001554. Then I'd ask DMGRS if their supplier came up with the goodies. No arrows this time |
