Good job you didn't fancy a Brough Superior or Vincent Black Shadow then Kev.

I bought my last 190 ZTT for £600 in excellent order with 132k for £600 in 2015. Sold it later that year for £850. It’s currently on C&C with a whopping 192k on it, and a little scruffier, for £1995!!!!! Hasn’t sold, wasn’t going to pay that much to get it back either.

It's not just our Rovers that are rising - ALL second-hand cars have risen in line with the increases in new ones. Very little new for under £15k, very little in going order under £1500. And just remember that the greenest car you can own is the one you already do! Even Volvo (Polestar) has effectively admitted this!

Currency depreciation is what is really going on caused by the massive money printing of every government. New cars priced in this depreciated currency are at eye-watering levels so a second hand car in good nick becomes more attractive, even necessary. And keeping older cars running well if you have the time and patience is definitely the greenest option, not to mention the satisfaction of sorting things for yourself...priceless.

Yeah, Black Shadow's have always held a premium - no doubt that has increased. Brough has always been rated and not surprised their prices are upwardly mobile. Great pity these products were not more sought after when the manufacturers were still in business. Mind you money was a hell of lot more scarce for the average working person then.

My personal view is that new cars virtually stopped being sold (restrictions at the show room) so the only alternative was s/h. Plus the fact nobody who had a few quid would want to continue to commute during the pandemic and felt safer in the car cabin (eating NOX).

A new car dealer friend was telling me before lockdown he had deals that could people in a new car for very little money, he offered me a new car with 30% off list price including £2k worth of extras in January. He now cant get stock, new vans are a 16 week lead time unless it is in stock and no discounts as he can sell everything.

Apparently high end stuff is even worse, if you want a factory order Merc, Audi or BMW you could be waiting until Feb or March.

I suppose these factories usually work close to there capacity so they are efficient and if they closed for a couple of months they are now on catch up.

I've heard that also but the funny thing is during lockdown the news people did the odd news piece/photo of new vehicles parked on disused airfields. If all that stock has now gone, where are all the 20/70 plate cars? I've only seen about a dozen in my area travels.
