Thanks all.
All the wiring seems fine. I've used a continuity tester and nothing wrong as far as I can tell. The fact that I'm getting the clicks indicates that the sensors are functioning and getting power. The reversing lights are also working.

I may just buy the 2 second user ones SMC has on Ebay just in case.

the other thing that seems to happen is sometime one gets continuous tone, sometimes one gets nothing. Not sure what the thang is there... but I havent taken mine apart yet (and I've got one not clicking).
I think rt2 might have a good value new one still for sale if you don't want secondhand? Worth asking. Its better to have one on tap before you take your bumper off, even if you end up not using it! |

I went through two secondhand ECU's before I bought a new one to get mine working......

interesting thought - "second user" or "preloved" versus "secondhand" or "used" - glass half full/half empty stuff?... or just when working, or not!
