I loosened but didnt remove ie. undid the top nut and loosened the nut on the lower pivot bolt and undid the top nut of the heat shield.
BTW Ive finished....well almost.....despit labelling the 3 vacuum pipes I'm not sure whether I have the 2 rear ones the right way round!!! DOH Also, I shut the engine lid and it wont release. If I can sort those 2 things Ill be able to start it up. Ive taken a few photos - will have to add comments later but hee goes in case its any help... |

Wasn't expecting you to have taken the bumper off😱, I hadn't planned on that.

Try it without first and see how you get on.
I was told that was the way to do it although Haynes dont do it that way???? Ive taken my bumper off before to do the kenlowe fan replacement so not a big deal for me. From starting to having the turbo on the floor was just slightly over 2 hours. |

The ratchet spanner came in very handy tonight for my stuck bonnet! Wont say what I did but you can most probably guess! LOL
Front bumper cover back on now that the bonnet opens and shuts properly - I had trapped one of the cables when I put the drivers light unit back. Outstanding jobs... 1) Reaffix undertrays 2) Top up oil and coolant 3) Check vacuum hoses - still not sure if they are correct. 4) Theres some kind of electrical problem - interior lights, central door locking doesn't work :-( Any idea which fuse to check as all th eones in the engine bay fuse box by battery are ok. |

Ok I'm stuck now.... :-(
The interior lights are not working, the central locking doesnt lock/unock doors, boot release doesn't work, interior heating fan doesn't blow....oh and it doesn't start either. I'm sure its al related somehow. I've checked all the fuses in the passenger footwell and all check out as do all the blade fuses in the engine compartment. However, I'm unsure which fuses etc are responsible for what so any any pointers would be appreciated and Ill recheck. Just to help with diagnosis.... Alarm appears to work ie. flashes when arming/disarming - just the doors don't lock/unlock at same time. Also, if I try and set the alarm with a door or bonnet open it beeps as normal. Finally, if I open a door with alarm set it sets it off so confident alarm is ok. Stereo works, wipers work, electric windows work, heater display works but the fans don't blow. With regards to engine it turns over fine but doesn't fire up but as mentioned not convinced I have 2 of the vacuum hoses right way round - would this stop it even coughing or attempting to start at all? Frustrated as so close but so far..... :-( |

Did you disconnet the battery before you started to remove the turbo?.

I didnt no but I think Ive found the problem - looks like the "mega" fuse
I am right in thinking it should have continuity....? Also, are these a specialist rover item or ca you buy them in places like halfords/unipart etc |

Managed to get one this afternoon from a breakers and fit it......and I'm baxck on the road :-)
All electrics restored and car starts and runs - little bit of smoke at first which soon cleared (imagine that's remnant of oil in intercooler etc). Let it warm up - checked fluids and no leaks visible :-) Just about to take it out for first decent run - AA card clenched to chest!!! LOL BTW here's the mega fuse in place (at the top) |
