I had my suspicions about the satnav unit not shutting down...how can I tell, and if it is, how do I sort it?
I bought a new battery and put it on the car, started it and everything is spot on. Checked across the batter when engine is off and its reading ~12.3v and while the engine is running its reading 14.2v. I turned the heater on, rear heated window, both heated seats, lights and checked it...14.03v. However, when I turned the car off and checked the voltage, it was slowly dropping from around 12.30v to about 12.20v and sort of hovered around that. I don't want to leave the new battery one all night incase it gets drained, so i've put the original battery one and its starting reading was 9.03v, i'll check it in the morning and see if that has dropped any more. |

After doing some reading I've checked the satnav system and it is shutting down correctly.

The battery is brand new from PMA, however my multimeter could be a little out.
I'll put the new battery on tomorrow morning and see how I get on with it. If the old battery stays at around 9v overnight, I can't see anything draining the new battery. |

Your alternator voltage seems low too, so possibly the meter is wrong.

Checked the old battery this morning and its still at 9.03v so ive put the new battery on.
Am I right in thinking that if something was draining the battery it would of dropped below 9v? |

Your new battery.------They are very rarely fully charged. Your low reading merely means it needs charging up overnight on a charger. There's no need to take it off the car to charge it. Connect pos. then neg. Disconnect neg then pos. Avoid sparks by connecting neg lead to engine away from the battery Colvert. Happy motoring. |

And tried to start it this morning and its dead. Ive checked the satnav, thats shutting down. The towbar wiring has been disconnected. I've even checked with a multimeter and no currect is being drawn.
I'm so sick of this lemon, if its not easily resolved its going. |

Get out your multimeter and measure the voltage across the battery when you turn the ignition key to 'start'. Report back a.s.a.p. Simon
