Honestly the none van versions especially the face-lift drive very nicely, mine is a bit rattly as it has almost no sound deadening lol.

They will average a solid 40 mpg all day long buty tyres drop me about 5 mpg unless I'm doing big runs in her.

I thought I'd do some updates on this as it's been a busy year. Basically she ran out of mot in December 2017 and failed a test.

So I decided to start repairing her and Holy good lord I found problem after problem after problem.

But here we go.

Well I've been working away on her since mot failure. I found a lot that the mot man missed so I've pulled her off road and rebuilding her how I want it.

First up the rear end. Have to strip out the rear anyways on the commercial to get access sadly, but I've been using it as an excuse.

So I'm going to sound deaden the whole rear end when I've it all stripped also. Being cheap and using thermal insulation from B and Q. Shall show you more when it's done as I've a reversing camera to fit also.

As we all know, you can't beat working on a land rover without a garage in a rain and snow and cold back garden. Installing the lift kit here, 40mm in the rear. Those rear break pipes through the strut are a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- stupid design!

That's the rear end fitted anyways, good lift on her with only 40mm, guess being commercial it's lighter than a car with seats etc in her.

Then fitted a new wiper arm, motor and refurbished rear brake light and wheel mount. Really helps.

Pulled old swan neck tow bar off also, have my old one from first Freelander to fit, with genuine land rover logo tow socket and cover. Sold old one within 30 mins on Facebook and guy collected it from my door!

Front end is going to be easier I hope. I'm replacing everything, bushes complete, arms, steering rods, drop links etc so hopefully I will be sorted for a good few years along with front 40mm lift.

Proper towball and towbar fitted. My god the Swan neck went on and off no problem previously but this towbar was a proper land rover jobbie (bar the ball hitch is aftermarket) and proved a ball ache mounting the bracket in place.

Job done and a bit off hammerite over her also will add to the overall look.

Started stripping front end today. Lot to do there. Loads of odd size bolts breaking my heart.

Next up, did this last night when I was unable to sleep. Weather was wonderful so made most of the dry evening.

https://youtu.be/pNQSZuPOCYE

DIY cheap thermal and sound deadening.

Next part of the project is these.

Rover 220 coupe turbo cloth seats. Bit dirty and a little tear in one but ideal for my needs.

Have stripped a few 25 45 75 zr zs zt seats before so know they share similar frames to Freelander ones. Will be a ball ache I'm sure sure I love these seats, just the right width for my *ahem* figure shall we say.....

Cool

You can see what's involved in seat swaps.

Best addition I've ever made to the car, super comfortable.

Patience has paid off, I've wanted a set of the original rubber mats for not just this Freelander, but the one before, so about 3 and half years now!

Having the commercial with the cage ment rear mats where pointless and then these appear in ebay, almost if not brand new for pennies delivered.

Nice finishing touch for the interior.

Making most of this good weather and night shift for ebay bargains......

Yep, that's a v6 bumper fitted. Few changes needed, but ideal for my future winch build. Shoe polish dye changing it from grey to black, few more costs and be perfect.

Will take care of the green part at later date, at glance looks black anyways.

More messing about today.

First up, replaced my swimming pool lid with a reinforced commercial one, but when I was at it stripped it, and did both sides with the insulation and then taped it up also, might help a little.

So that's good, next up I had really wanted to bed liner the rear panels but for all I use them it will be fine, so I reached for a tin of hammerite satin black and started rolling it on. Pics are taken over 3 coats and I'm happy with even result, it seems a bit more glossy than satin overall but see when fitted in van I'm sure be dark enough!

Better than that god awful oem colour in the rear, and I'm too tight to buy some later panels in black.
