Default engine oil quantity

hi, could anyone tell me what the quantity of engine oil is between the min and max marks on the dipstick on the 75 diesel engine.

please don't suggest filling it to find out, for i need to know how much has been lost due to an oil leak caused by useless mechanic, to process my complaint.

thanks

Also, make sure you check the level in the correct manner.
If you know what that is, no problem. If you don't, you need to remove the dipstick, wipe it, replace it, leave it for a few seconds, then remove it again to see the correct reading.

i suppose there are people out there who do not know how to check their oil level correctly, but if you are going to list how to do it, you forgot to say that the car should be on level ground and that i should check that i use a clean cloth not a dirty one oh and to put the dipstick horizontal as soon as you withdraw it, plus or minus 2deg should be suffice

enough frevolity (not sure on spelling), does anyone know the answer to the question though? quantity of oil between the min and max marks on dipstick?

thanks

1. Withdraw the dipstick and wipe the blade clean.

2. Slowly insert the dipstick and withdraw again to check
the level, which should NEVER be allowed to fall below
the lower mark on the dipstick.

3. To top-up, remove the oil filler cap and add oil to
maintain a level between the upper and lower marks on
the dipstick. As a general guide, if the level on the
dipstick is:
· nearer to the upper mark than the lower, add no oil.
· nearer to the lower mark than the upper, add half a
litre of oil.
· at or below the lower mark, add one litre of oil.

4. Wait for five minutes and then recheck the level, adding
more oil if necessary - DO NOT OVERFILL!

5. Finally, ensure the dipstick and filler cap are replaced.

Driving the car with the
engine oil level ABOVE
the upper mark, or BELOW the
lower mark on the dipstick, will
damage the engine.

It wasn't frivolity, you would be surprised how many newcomers to this forum didn't know to remove, replace, then remove again. It makes a big difference to the reading.
I assumed you weren't parked on a hill when you did it.
As regards to the quantity of oil required between Low and High, it tells you in the handbook, but to save you having to find it, it is as was stated earlier, 1 litre.

From a Yorkshireman in France to a Yorkshireman in Suffolk, you're welcome.
Next time, remember that when someone posts a question on here, we assume initially that they know very little about these cars, and answer accordingly.
