Cheers for that Martin
But to clear up any further confusion for members can you or moderators Edit some graphics onto the photos

ie. 1st thumbnail is the INCORRECT assembled way

2nd thumbnail is CORRECT.

The other debate I'd like to mention is .........
GREASE or NO GREASE!!!

My view is NO GREASE on plastics that may come into contact with grit and dirt as this in time creates a grinding paste!! But that's another subject!!!

Various assemlies an RAF aircraft were NOT lubricated if they were likely to be exposed to grit & dirt.

Whatever method you are happy with, But I've found the release mechanism is still smooth without lubrication in the divider block.

Jules,
My background was RAF (Ground Trades) and BAe (Computer Maintenance) so I too have some knowledge regarding Plastics and Lubrication, I have to agree with you on this matter, however I did note that the amount of Dust (Muck) that was inside the Block was minimal (see my first thumbnail) and so in the absence of Silicon grease, I used a high temp. Castrol grease. I did a 'dry slide' of the block on its own and noted a little friction from the moulding lines of the block which I removed. The addition of the grease was a calculated precaution.
To others - the choice is yours !!!

Well my car was one of the last few hundred to be made and it had the same 'fault'.....all rectified now...so thanks!

I also did the rubber tube that wears a hole in the aircon pipe...tied it back with a cable tie....

All becomes clear now!!

Definately something to do first thing tomorrow methinks. Right now though, I've got me feet up with a stiff drink in one hand and an easter egg slowly shrinking in front of me...

I think I'll go down the grease route as I feel there should be minimal dirt inside the box. I clean out the engine bay regularly so dirt ingress should be kept to a minimum.
