One thing to consider if going down the rooting rout is :
if you use mobile banking on your mobile that could be the last time you do

That's exactly what i was going to say, i rooted my HTC one X & cannot use my online banking app now as it says it has detected a security issue, apart from that it's great & lots faster

It is because rooted phones pose a higher risk to hacking for one.
Secondly many banks are going over to a security key type encryption soon and now and that does not work on rooted phones.
