Default 25 not 75...

Hi all, hoping someone here can help. My dads got a Rover 25, with the pektron system, and he needs to change the battery in the fob. He can’t see how to do it, and I can’t find anything online about how to do it. Anyone here able to help?

Take the fob off the keyring then slide the top part off like this.......

The two lugs securing each half of the fob which are at each side now exposed, can gently be released, allowing the two halves to be separated and access to the battery, a CR2032.

Taking note of the way the battery is fitted, remove it, then refit the new one in it's place.

Reassembly is a reversal of disassembly.

Thanks both, I knew I’d get a speedy reply on here! I’ll screenshot and send it to him.

Well he managed to get the key apart to change the battery, but apparently it now needs a code or something to reset the immobiliser, which he hasn't got, so it's been taken to an MGR garage in Bristol for them to have a look at.

After battery change in the Pektron fob, if the battery is good new one and inserted properly, it should work immediately without any reset or sync process like in previous Lucas system which needed resync process.

Maybe he did something wrong then. He changed the fob battery, then got in to go to work the next day and it unlocked the car but the engine wouldn't start. I'm too far away to pop over so he had to call out the AA. So lucky they didn't diagnose it as HGF!

I’m pretty sure it’s not got air con. I think the garage is MJN or something like that, recommended by a few people on here so hopefully they’ll know what to look for. But I will pass it on to him so he can mention it.

Yes indeed mine did have air con. On the Streetwise however the BCU was sat on the bulkhead and got damp during heavy rain on motorways. Simple design fault I reckon. No trouble for a whole year once sat in the footwell.

THE man to talk to in regards to Pektron SCU related issues is Paul "Technozen" Brown.

Find him HERE I would rather pass work to Paul than carry it out myself if I'm honest, he's that good with these units
