electronics beat me, convert to digital then back to analogue....??????
The illumination does look good and enhances the steering wheel At first I did not realise you were changing the control switches for the radio and cruise, I thought the lights sat next to them. may I ask what do you think a two switch set up without gesture sensor would be, this is for those with cruise control. macafee2 |

Me too! I don't understand why lighting was omitted here and on the air vent scroll wheels and internal doors. There is a marmite mod for the latter. Count me in please! (cruise control compatible).

Have to agree - very impressive . I would certainly be interested in a full digital audio + cruise kit if things take off.
I'll be keeping a close watch on this thread . Cliff

A full cruise kit (without gesture sensor) would be around £80-90, and hopefully slightly less if we can get the numbers. |

Very impressive, well done
There is a much easier way to get the power to the LEDs on the cruise control switch version, cut off the earth wire inside the steering wheel and earth it inside the steering wheel on one of the bolts which holds the steering wheel controls in place, and use that wire you've cut to wire to your live feed for the leds. Then cut the same wire on the steering column end and connect to your power source for the LEDs which would be the sidelight circuit. Job done |

Yes, it is reliant on the bearings in the steering column for conductivity though (the horn also relies on that ground), and the original design obviously deemed it necessary to have a properly wired ground. I also did it this way for the additional functionality you can have (such as the gesture sensor) and reliability of the switches by doing away with the resistance network. Appreciate your input though. Last edited by neilbaker86; 13th March 2019 at 18:48.. |
