Default Unable to unlock car with key

Hi all, I have not got around to T4 session to allow my key fob to unlock/lock the car but have been just using the key. Today, with mobile phone still inside I was unable to unlock it. The key just turns with no resistance. Guessing mechanical or electrical (solenoid). So, how do I get in without getting a specialist to drill the lock out?

Good news is that if you've been using the key it shouldn't be deadlocked

Find something that you can slip between the door frame and either hook one of the interior door handles and pull or using the same try and hit the unlock button on the center console

If the above doesn't work and you're tempted to break any glass the driver or passenger front door windows are the easiest to replace

Drilling the lock out won't get you in, either the back of the lock has broken or more likely the cable that goes between the lock and the door catch assembly has broken.

There is a way to get into the tailgate but it can be very difficult, saloon boots are a bit easier but it's not something to be put on open forum.

You might need a new one of these then:

It connects the barrel to the locking assembly in the driver's door.

Will,
Does your key fob just need the switches sorting? If so, I can meet you at a ferry, take you and your key to my house, change the switches and drop you back at a ferry.

Hi Chris. Managed to open the car door via air bags and wire hook. I will now take the door card off and take a look. Weirdly, it locks with the key (I have not got around to sorting central locking) but then the barrel just revolves so guessing the cable to/from the barrel has either broken or dislodged. Will report back on Sunday.

Hi Mike, what is the process to get this out and inspect it. I have had a look and it seems impossible! Thanks,
Will

Follow this 'How To' to get the trim panel and lock assembly out;

https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=126755

Was some time ago that I did mine Will, but from what I remember something like this:

Remove the door glass - lower the window to access the lower two clamp bolts and loosen them then it lifts out.

From the inside there is a small clip that holds the outer rear finisher on the door handle. Push the clip back and then remove the finisher. The door handle can then be slid out. There are two bolts that hold the handle assembly on - remove one and just loosen the other one that is in a channel then slide the handle assembly out.

If I have missed anything then I'm sure someone will be along to add it in.

You can always buy the RAVE disc from X-Part - cheap enough and it is very comprehensive.
