have you considered SMD LED's? they are flatter and can be glued to the PCB with a small wire soldered to each end?

Hi,no problem I will continue .the full "how To". It should be finalised this week.to answer the query of SMD's the difficulty with these, is getting the right position to give equal illumination to all segments of the switches.it is really up to the "user" to do their own thing,It took a lot of trial and testing before I settled on the final items.Regards

I did take a few photos, but the LEDs were a pain, the cruise was easy, just drilled right through, but the mode button for the radio was a night mare. Had to shave bits off places, and drill right next to the Circuit lines.
I also illuminated my boot release button a same time. |
