LED side lights
I am considering fitting a pair of LED side lights (because they last almost forever), but I think there may be an isue with the bulb failure sensing system.
Has anyone else tried this mod with success? Bill C |

It is a known concern as the leds do not draw enough current. You will need to add in a resistor to the circuitry and voila all will be well.
However, I don't know the value of the resistor but sure it has been done in here before. |

LED ballast resistors are used to prevent the blown bulb screen from popping up.They're sold in hundreds on eBay.

Have you had a look at the "no error" ones on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-LED-Sideli...item5ad34c9556 I have fitted the number plates LED's and they are fine.

Well I have just ordered some of these (white) and hope they will be OK.
I have also just ordered some LED interieor lights from China (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT) to see if they are any good. This was because I just realized that almost all my interior lamps are out - but as there are some many inside I had not noticed. Bill C |

I to report back that I recieved the new LED lamps very quickly via post, but as I had to go away on business, it was a week before I could fit them.
So they were installed today and the results are great. The only problem I had was that the new lamps are mounted on a very small circuit board which only just fits inside the headlight housing - in fact I had to use a needele file on the nearside to allow the lamp to be fitted. Only a little material was removed, but that does mean I now have a bit of dust inside the lens which I will have to work-out how to remove. Bill C |
