Default working together

Hello Mark,
I have just spotted your post and wanted to comment upon it. On Saturday I was at the meet at A&L autos at Carcroft Near Doncaster, it was my first meet and I met so many friendly helpful people, members were helping to fix each others cars. trading experience etc, there was one chap with a T4 computer offering to check out peoples systems for £30 a time, not bad especially as the machine cost him £2500 I understand. These various experts were from far and wide and it gave me a thought which links nicely to yours.

As our cars get older maintaining them will become more difficult and we will need to rely on each others help even more, it makes it difficult when there is no central point of reference, it stuck me that if we could organise it that certain garages were nominated in each area, the various experts could be brought under one roof, for instance, if A&L wished to specialise in Rover 75's it would be great for members to know they could go there to source parts, get repairs etc. A&L or whoever it might be could act as a co-operative and people such as yourself could say turn up on Saturdays or whatever day is convenient and spent the day installing Head Units. The guy with the T4 Computer could also do one day a week etc etc, so instead of somebody such as myself travelling to Birmingham or Newcastle I would have a central reference point where I could sort anything Rover 75 related within say a 25 mile distance, this would be the same for anywhere in the country. Each area such as the Yorkshire Area could set up as many garage central reference points as were viable.

Anyway it's just an idea but similar co-operative type schemes work very well. I know from my own point of view that I am struggling to install my head unit and I hate asking favours of anybody and especially people I don't know, but if I knew of a place I could go to and pay a reasonable fee to have somebody help me I would be happy, I'm sure there must be others who feel the same. Anyway that's my suggestion, somebody can either pick it up and run with it or tell me to mind my own ****** Business!

Great to know that there is support and help out there believe me.
All the best
Ged

Hi Ged,

Sounds like a good idea, just not sure how we would work that...

If anyone has any thoughts come on down !

Having just been to a NANO meet near Wolverhampton last Sunday I too was amazed at how many people turned up and were having work done on their cars by various members. I got the Plenum MOD done by Dennis for nowt, amazing. I was quite happy to pay him but he point blank refused any remuneration.

And the enthusiasm for these cars is still strong and vibrant. I believe there is another NANO meet coming up next month (dunno where yet).

Now I would be interested in this amp thingy, but this thread is the first time I have seen anything about it. So please put me down for one.

I think the idea is good but as there is so many NANO meets popping up now surely it would be easier to organise through them. Take a look at \the events section for your region and suggest one and invite these experts along to them.

Just a thought?

Edd
