Thanks John. Nice thorough job on removing the wings and undersealing the whole thing. I waxoyled the top area.

A bit of a catch up. I seem to have slowed on the project due to commitments but I dragged out the twin exhausts over the weekend as I move to the under side of the car.

Replacement rear hub fitted and torqued up



and rear disc fitted



The drivers front arch liner cleaned and new stainless fittings used to fit up



Rear calipers fitted up and torqued down.





and the new rear stainless hoses at the correct length fitted





just the rear pads to fit and then ready to bleed the brakes and also set up the handbrake

The stone chip in the front wheel area dried and ready for the arch liner to be re fitted



and the arch liner fitted back







the arch on the passengers side removed and the metal work cleaned out



Whilst prepping the the underside for underseal I removed the cross members for prepping and painting



Rust and paint removed and treated ready for painting



Passenger front metal all undersealed ready for the arch liner to go back in. I also waxoyled the remaining cavities on this side of the car and underneath




Next to fit the last liner and then get the brakes set up, bled and working. A said earlier I have started to prep the underside for underseal (oh that will be messy)

2. Cooling fan..All speeds functioning

Cheers mate. Yep will definitely will be fitting the protectors. I thought these were fitted as part of call back and I would have expected this one owner car (well after MGR) to have had them Do you sell them mate?

I have always painted the non friction parts of the discs to try and keep them a bit tidy when I have changed them. Again using the famous tin of metal paint that sits in most of our garages somewhere

As i am keeping this car for a long time I am trying to do everything to to keep the tin worm at bay even though she will no longer being 10K a year anymore

Small update as I didn't around to much this weekend

Firstly the last wheel arch was put back in





Then I adjusted the handbrake.

Firstly slacken off the handbrake adjuster in the centre console right off to the end of the thread. and put the handbrake in the released position

Next find the adjuster inside the rear drums (this is why I painted them white) by aligning one of the wheel nut hole with the adjuster



Next using a long flat screwdriver I adjusted the adjuster by rotating it up towards the top of the drum until the pads lock the drum. I did this both sides then released the clamp by rotating the adjuster down a couple of notches so the drums could rotate.

Next I adjusted the nut in the handbrake adjuster to 23mm of thread and then worked the handbrake half a dozen times to centralise the pads in the drum.

Next I adjusted as above on the drum adjusters (by rotating the adjuster up) until the drums locked then released the clamp by rotating the adjuster a notch down.

Then applying the handbrake up a couple of notches on the ratchet I checked that the pads were starting to apply on the drums and made some very slight adjustments at the drums. Again worked the handbrake again a few times and then checked my adjustments to see that the handbrake locked the hubs.

Next I fitted the pads to the rear calipers ready to bleed all the calipers.

Rear calipers complete






Next up bleeding the brakes, Stripping out the old exhaust, heat shields and undersealing the underside

A bit of an update as its been a while.

I have been working on the underside when I have had the chance.

The brakes were bled and a complete fluid change down all the lines.

The wheels have had the tyres removed and are being blasted at the moment before going to a local body shop for spraying.

These wheels were really the worst alloys I have seen









I had 2 x sets of heat shields so I made a set up of the good ones.



All were cleaned before bolting back onto the car after I had undersealed the underneath(pictures to follow).

The old exhaust was removed and the replacement twin exhaust was cleaned up and the stainless tips machined polished. What really surprised me was that the main exhaust was still original and just the rear box had been replaced. I tell you MGR pushed some quality into these cars

Next some of the trim bits have returned from the bodyshop. I had the mirror caps and drivers sill trim resprayed.

Resprayed trim with new clips. Everyone of mine snapped when I removed it so I had to replace all 12



Excuse the workbench it needs clearing up


The sill cleaned and polished ready to receive the trim



and fitted



I have completed all the underseal and waxing of cavities so will post up some pics in the next day or two. The exhaust is also ready to hang after the heat shields ahve now been fitted and the repainted fuel tank bracket was fitted.

Hot tip Jon but bit late.

Some of the trims can be slid off saving breaking most of them apart from the end ones

Cheers mate. I used the shoe lace method to get the trim off and every clip shattered. Not surprising for a bit of plastic that is 15 years old. I hope I will never have to remove these again.
