How can you pre-order a phone which hasn't been launched, yet alone unveiled yet?

If you only want a phone to call, you can buy new phones from supermarkets for around a tenner which does everything you need, and better still, they won't be flat after two hours of talking

However, something better would be the Nokia 6310i. Just a phone for calling. I haven't used mine for at least a year and tried turning it on the other day. Would you believe it still had half charge left?

I only have a mobile phone for emergencies. It is Pay-as-You-Go and I have to make one call, or text, every six months. Just before Christmas, I bought a new Nokia at Car Phone Warehouse for 99p; yes 99p and used my existing O2 Sim card. I was quite annoyed to see them reduced to 50p, just after Christmas. Since then they have had Samsung phones for similar money. I just can't justify the hundreds of pounds and pricey contracts, that seem to be the norm, and which are considered yesterday's 'must have' a short while later.

I'm on the gold customer list with Apple California. I'm automatically on a list of people guaranteed to receive every apple product on date of launch, I don't need to pre order, if I don't want to receive one, I do have to opt out though.

Excellent choice. SWMBO has one, I have the Lumia 1020 (stunning camera). My daughters have Lumia 920.

As a backup phone, I can suggest one of these, eBay item number 121285773984. They are really good phones and excellent for Internet. Dual SIM as well.

I have a brand new Nokia Lumia 520 on T-Mobile sealed in the box which I will probably sell. Got it as upgrade last summer but I have no interest in mobile phones & still use my old Nokia 6303. Only got the Lumia as it was the dearest phone I could have on my upgrade.
