Lower engine mount - diesel
Working on my doer upper diesel 75 and noticed a large crack in the rubber on the lower engine mount.I have changed a few kv6 ones but not sure which one to get for the diesel as the one in the car basically has just rubber in the bush.
I see there are some being sold with a large bit of aluminium block in the centre with two rubber bumpers on them . Which is the correct ones to use ? Does the Kv6 ones work and fit also ? |

Just get the one for the diesel Changed mine last week, got the one with black rubber insert (with gaps) Much written about these mounts, like the Powerflex inserts as an alternative. Some say they're fine, others say there's vibration. I just felt that an original is gonna last many thousands of miles so I went for it. Your choice I'm afraid. They are very easy to fit.

Stick with the original, far more smoother and as you can see with my powerflex conversing which did not last long. |

Done a few kv6 ones and replaced a few with power flex bushes.
Access to the diesel one looks way easier. I see DMGR are selling the aluminium block type as being ok for either the diesel or kv6 engines. |

Use the proper diesel mount.
A mount from a car manufacturer that only produces the petrol engined car being suitable for a diesel - nah - we have been here many times before! |

That was one of the early type power flex mounts which did not do the job, I worked with powerflex on the next type (Yellow) with the three slots which have been fine, if you sent that back to them they would exchange it for the newer type, also when using the power flex mount always best to use your old metal insert with nylon then you get no or very little vibration. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerflex-...72.m2749.l2649

As much as I'm a fan of the 'original' part, it seems the SAIC MG part is up to the job - I've had the same SAIC mount fitted to my ZT-T CDTi for 80,000 miles, and this was fitted to another 75 CDTi for 10,000 miles before mine, too.
I'm aware it wasn't made for the diesel, and isn't as Rover designed - but it works perfectly and looks as good as when I fitted it (well, a bit muddy thanks to my missing undertray!) For this reason, we've chosen to only sell the SAIC MG item for the time being. We do warrant them for 2 years with unlimited mileage - and no issues reported yet, we've been selling them for around 3 years. The Powerflex is also a good option, the 3 hole version of course.

Just as a wrap up to the vibration issue, ended up taking out the lower engine mount and the large bush was toast.
Replaced with a new one and vibration in reverse and drive is gone. Still get a small bit of vibration in the steering wheel at idle but from what I read appears to be part of the diesel DNA |
