Default HIGHLINE MP3 CD changer definitive answer

Guys.

Does any smart ICE person know the definitive answer for this.

I saw THIS thread:-

http://forums.mg-rover.org/car-audio...ow-mp3-181445/

And I do not know if this is accurate or not?

I have an OE CD changer with the Highline in the car, Im assuming its Alpine, in which case, can I just purchase a slightly later model?

I vaguely recall perhaps the newer one having a different plug/socket, and that there was a company on the south coast who used to make up cables?

Have I got this all wrong and there is a plug and play MP3 CD changer, with a BM24 setup?

I dont care about ID tags or any of that.. just want to play MP3 via an "OE" solution..

That carphonics unit, the guy said that the USB MP3 wouldnt work....not sure if it was miscommunication, anyone here purchased a carphonics TV tuner and had the USB working for MP3?

I had an Alpine MP3 changer in my Celestial, which had a lead to from the BMW two plug setup to the single Rover one. Also had the BM24 and it wouldn't read or play MP3 discs.
I was told that MP3 discs will only play if the BM54 is fitted (proper BM54...not BM54 Back)

You can buy either a Grom unit, or better still the Intravee kit

I have the Intravee kit and have had it for years.with the BM24...Brilliant,,,,gives you full control of everything and all the track info on your monitor. You will need an Alpine unit with too...not sure of the number, but it;s been well covered on this forum.

Cheers

Now this is golden..

I thought the BM54 just gave you Mp3 tags?

Any idea where to get that lead you had?

In the past I've just converted mp3 songs to cda or WAV format (cda/wav are the same from what info I found), burned them onto a cd as I would with an mp3 and they play in the original 6cd changer with no problems.

About 20 songs to a CD IIRC. You don't get track tags or anything though.

Assuming I'm on the same topic as the rest of you...
