![]() Hi,
Hope somebody can give me some advice as to why my rover smokes for a short period when first started, the colour or the smoke is blue and the mileage is 92000 miles, not sure if this is a emission problem or possibly, vale stem oil seals, any advice would be appreciated Regards graybo |

![]() Hi.
Sure sign of worn valve seals or guides. Oil will run past the seals & guides when the engine is hot and stopped, this accumulates on the backs of the valves and is sucked into the engine on a cold start. Think back to the Skoda rear engine cars, they always started with a puff of blue smoke when cold, these engines had no valve seals. It wont do any harm with the exception of an increase of carbon on the backs of the inlet valves.
