Default MOT odometer error

I'm in the process of selling my MGTF. On checking the MOT certificate I found that the listed odometer mileage for the last MOT reading was 37285 in Nov 2017. The current odometer mileage is 33828 a difference of 3457. miles. I have a garage bill for a service at same time as the MOT and the stated mileage is 32784.
On contacting DVSA that said that this happens all the time and their MOT replacement department has a huge backlog and it may take me 2 to 3 months to get a corrected MOT certificate. The sale is on hold.
So, guys, check the mileage on your MOT certificates is correct.

Why not ask the DVSA by email to confirm their agreement, make arrangements for the replacement, and give the buyer a print out of the email evidence?

Same thing happened to me , I just took the wrong certificate back to the issuing garage and they gave me a new certificate with the correct mileage on , that was the same day so I don't know if there's a time limit on when they can issue a new one ?

Issuing garage can only do that within 28 days of first issue, Jon.

I've emailed DVSA and sent copies of bills confirming correct mileage. If I get a reply I could do as you suggest but don't want the aggro of having to prove mileage with a prospective buyer. I'm in no rush to sell so may wait this one out.

Nightmare ! in the old days you could nip down to the local office and sort it there and then , but that's before they came across all "efficient" and cost cutting

In the old days you could tear up the old Mot and take 60k off the clock and go get a new mot.

I had the same problem with my TF, DVLA said nothing they could do, luckily I had a receipt for an oil change done on same day as MOT Which showed correct mileage....the first viewer bought the car

Cheers for the heads up Will - I'll be checking the MOT closely the next time round.

I'd be gutted if they added any extra miles to the odometer on my car.

I dread to think what it would do to the resale value.

I've just received amended MOT Certificate from DVSA. That's just over 2 months since I reported it to them. Result anyway.
