planning rules gggrrrrr
I have just had planning permission granted for a caravan port.
It is out of site from anyone at the front, hidden by the garage entirely along one side. visible in winter but not summer to house behind and visible to 2 properties on one side. One property being the mother in law. First design they did not like as not in keeping but no objections. second design accepted and although I sought pre planning application advice from the council they have put a condition on the application. Either I use a soak away or just let the rain water run off the roof onto the ground. I can not use existing ditches. To the best of my knowledge no one down stream flooded in 2012 or 2013/14. It is the speed at which the rain water would go into the ditch. the want it to go in slowly If I had built a car port to the same size except height, by this I mean lower I would not have needed planning permission and could have got away with using the existing rain water ditch. gggrrrrrr macafee2 |

Could you not harvest the rain water some how with a couple of water butts or something and then let them drain at your convenience with a small pipe into the existing ditch?
I've been watching the BBC permission impossible episodes recently and some of the conditions are absolutely ridiculous!

council wont allow that as they said people have a tendency to get rid of water butts.

Erm, why do you want to put another roof over a caravan that already has a perfectly good one of it's own?

We've recently had an extension, local water company would not allow rain water of the new roof to go into the existing drains, insisting instead that it goes into a soak away???? We have a very clay type soil.
In addition, as we are still in the process of having the kitchen fitted, we can't have the building signed off until the inspector has seen the sink traps work???? BW |

Bury a couple of 1m3 IBC's underground, install a scavenger pump and use the water to water your plants in the summer, planning love green ideas.
