Default Fitted real walnut dash

Picked up a real wood dash from Ebay for £40.
Read up through the 'how to' to see what's involved so had a go this evening.
All seemed to come off easy enough, but there was a bit of head scratching when I got to disconnecting the central air vent cable. I took a photo and put it on the PC screen and then all became clear. So much easier when you can see what you are looking at. So here is a mini how to:
1. Get a small screwdriver under the cable retainer A, give a few twists and it will pull out.
2. Move the cable down along line B so it is in line with the gap in the cable retaining guides (in red).
3. Place a small screwdriver under the cable doughnut C and twist to lift it off.
There you go. Easy.

I was also surprised at how hard it was to pull out the tiny power plug from the clock. I had to get a pair of long nose pliers on it and give a mighty tug
Assembly wasn't too bad, just the main section took a while and I used a plastic shim (Cut down Robinsons raspberry juice bottle, but any flavour will do) to protect the central facia as I shoved it in.

All polished up now with wax and looking good. I can now bask in the feeling that I have a REAL wood dash

Finally had time to do some work.

Cleaned the hell out of many tight little spaces, and also did a change of oil and coolant, replaced the cam cover gasket and spark plugs. And obviously did some some small stuff while I could get to it.

All I've done today is use mine for a tip run and to deliver parts, so could be worse...

Finally got around to finishing the rear bumper I'm really impressed with the paint match from a rattle can, it looks a lot better in the flesh

Now i just need to do the rest of the gouges that I found on the bumper while I was wet sanding it

Default New front brake discs and pads.

As the discs and pads arrived this afternoon after dinner this even i decided to crack on and see how far we got with fittign the new stuff. I did not realise that the new Borg & Beck discs have this special high performance silver coating on them:-

I also cleaned off then primed and painted the caliper carrier as it was a little scabby:-

The caliper may be dark but is in surprisingly good and clean condition. Pads are Ferodo and came from the same place. The N/S is all stripped ready for the new disc butt eh carrier paint is dryign and the light was failing so will finish the job in the morning. With both pistons pushed back the fluid level is back spot on the max line in the resevoir neck .

Default I don't usually go for bling...

but I fitted some cheapo plastic chrome wheel nut covers but the locking nuts are larger so the covers didn't fit them, so I had four left over.
Hmmm what to do with them.
Had a look at the seat belt anchor bolt (that MGR no longer fitted a cover to post PD) and thought it might fit.
So, a couple of minutes with a hack saw and I now have bling seat belt bolts.
