Default Pierburg MAF - Life expectancy

I bought a Pierburg MAF from Roveron approximatey 14 months and 18k miles ago. I'm just wondering how long it should last as I'm experiencing some serious hesitancy at roundabouts and junctions etc.

This happens with synergy 2 on setting 6, 9 and 10!

Any ideas?

I have EGR Bypass, air intake mod, pipercross airfilter.

Can the MAF performance be checked via t4?

Hi Chris, I don't think one has ever been reported as failing has it?! I would put it back to standard to see if there is any improvement. If there is then you know a little better where the fault may lie.

I don't think you can run the Pierburg MAF without the synergy 2 switched on

I got rid of the original Bosch maf as it was kaput!

I'm sorry I don't know a lot about them. I meant remove the synergie and run with disconnected maf? Apologies if I have that wrong?

Yeah I could disconnect the synergy and the MAF and see if the hesitation has gone.

Do you know if MAF operation can be tested using a t4 Phil?

I would doubt a pierburg one could be, as doesn't it give a different signal that gets interpretated by the Synergie? Maybe someone more Synergieish could tell us both!

Apparently to run with the Pb MAF the MAFAM part of the Synergie must be on.

I kept my old Bosch MAF safe, after cleaning, in case I ever come across a problem with the Pb MAF).

Wish I had kept mine too Andrew.

The overall performance of the car with the Synergy switched on is good. Its just the hesitation when pulling away until the turbo kicks in and then away she goes.

Do you get a puff of black smoke when you "floor" it before the turbo kicks in?

Just thinking it could be a split or loose piping leading to or from the turbo....

I do get a bit of smoke, nothing embarrassing, but i've always put that down to having the Synergy turned up.

But performance doesn't seem that great til turbo kicks in. I have replaced the intercooler O rings with Viton ones too.
