Default Weird IPK Problem - Help!!!

Got a strange issue with my IPK which has just started this evening. The lower part that displays the odometer, trip mileage and external temperature stays illuminated continually, everything is switched off as normal, doors locked etc. Here are a couple of photos showing the issue:

I have turned ignition on and off, lights on and off, pushed the button to reset the trip mileage, all to no avail as the illumination stubbornly refuses to switch off. I doubt it draws a great deal of current from the battery, however it obviously it isn't right.

Has anyone had this issue, and more importantly any ideas how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the battery for five minutes, then reconnect and it will magically work properly again

Many thanks Brian, you are without doubt a true gent. Battery reset carried and all systems back to normal (doffs hat).

Yeah a bit of a strange one, easily rectified though thanks to Brian's words of wisdom!
